What is God?

how very true, the more we attempt to define god the more god defies defining. as far as the image thing goes, a creative inteligence seems a good place to begin and in that image go i, simply to seek faith , letting "god" create me not i him.

I guess it is completely up to interpretation then because I do not find anything in the bible as being divine words of wisdom.

Why what is God?.

Answer lie in the question more than answer.

The only being that could possible answer the question, what is god, must be god himself

I have developed a simple understanding through my personal experience and struggle over the years. Here it is as best as i can explain

Did god create man in his own image? If so ,what is the image of God?
Well, he's most definitly a creative inteligence.
"You shall know me by my works"
Am i in that image? Yes, I am a creative inteligence
If I am to create something and give it to my friend ,what are my expectations?
That he might find my creation enjoyable.
If he puts it in a box in the closet am I hurt?
Yes

If I make a hunting knife and give it to my friend, and he goes next door and uses it to kill his neighbor goes to prison and spends his life in a box of misery and regret do i think he enjoyed my gift?
No.
Am I happy with him?
No
Do I still love him?
Yes
What are God's expectations of me?
That I enjoy his Gift

I am assuming your quible is with the use of the word devine. I must agree, I find it an unnecessary quantifier that tends to put people off.
But, if you cannot find any wisdom in the bible, may I suggest a secular study of the old testament book Ecclesiastes. It is a relatively easy read, the assumption being it was written by Solomon. I myself found it to contain much wisdom.
