United or divided states of America

I would like to believe that our legislative, judicial and administrative branches of government are working for the good all Americans regardless of the section of the nation and political affiliation. As I said like to believe but I do not. It seems to me we are a political dictatorship. The party in control is interested in it's constituency and party only the will and interests of the minority and indeed the nation are irrelevant. That has never been as evident as it is with this administration. The irony is that from a popular vote standpoint this administration lost the election. However, win or lose they did not receive a mandate from the American people. Is this the United states of America or the divided states of America?

Oligarchy or Plutocracy?
Which model is the USA now?

The USA population is now polarizied regarding political views as it has never been in over 50 years. The present regime in power is deviding this nation not uniting it. It's a right wing fascist group.

Does the following mostly fit the present USA Regime?

* Nationalism and super-patriotism with a sense of historic mission.

* Aggressive militarism even to the extent of glorifying war as good for the national or individual spirit.

* Use of violence or threats of violence to impose views on others.

* Authoritarian reliance on a leader or elite not constitutionally responsible to an electorate.

* Cult of personality around a charismatic leader.

* Reaction against the values of Modernism, usually with emotional attacks against both liberalism and communism.

*for the homogeneous masses of common folk (Volkish in German, Populist in the U.S.) to join voluntarily in a heroic mission_often metaphysical and romanticized in character.

* Dehumanization and scapegoating of the enemy_seeing the enemy as an inferior or subhuman force, perhaps involved in a conspiracy that justifies eradicating them.

* The self image of being a superior form of social organization beyond socialism, capitalism and democracy.

* Elements of national socialist ideological roots, for example, ostensible support for the industrial working class or farmers; but ultimately, the forging of an alliance with an elite sector of society.

* Abandonment of any consistent ideology in a drive for state power.

The words and deeds.
If I were a Christian I would be thinking that perhaps Shrub is the Anti-Christ. Rolling Eyes Since, I am not, I could believe that Shrub is the Neo-Stalin, except that Shrub doesn't have the mental level that Stalin had. Perhaps VP Cheney would be a more apt Neo-Stalin.

I suspect that the Dems will lose the next election. Four more years of the present regime is something I shudder to contemplate yet I am starting to prepare mentally for it. Crying or Very sad

If it happens, I will probably move my family to Canada if I can persuade them of the move. In fact, I am thinking about doing so already.

The statements written by Hobitbob and Pistoff are familiar. I traced them to the source. They were originally made by Mummar al-Gaddafi.

Gaddafi is the Lybian scum who represents the worst to be found in Islam. Everyone knows that the Lybians are the deitrus left by the masturbations of Sudanese mental incompetents.

Yes, Gaddafi said the same things until President Reagan jammed a missle down his lying Arabic throat.

Pistoff is qouting a study of Nazism in the 1930s. I was quoting speeches by George Bush.

Hmmm...interesting considering the high percentage of Orthodox Christians in Libya.

Actually, Quadaffi is North African, or Tuareg if you prefer, but not Arabic. Its the simple mistakes which make one question your credibility. Wink
PS: The comment about Lybians as the results of Sudanese masturbation got your post reported as hate speech. Have a nice evening!

I never thought I would live to see the end of the Soviet Union. And now at times I wonder if I will likewise outlive the USA.

It seems the politicians of BOTH parties are doing everything possible to turn us against each other for short term advantages in whichever election is coming up next, and to hell with the long term effects. Of course, as Keynes said "in the long term we are all dead".

Let me ask this another way. Are we being Balkanized? Instead of being one nation are we acting as if the US is 50 separate nations with little regard for it's neighbor. In effect have we become Europe and is that being aided and abetted by the actions of our legislators and administration?

I don't know about 50 seperate nations, but certainly factionalism is rife.

The anger and uncivilized behavior of the Republican Party began as a reaction to the ousting of Nixon -- to the shame of that debacle. The bloodthirst wasn't slaked until their creation of the Clinton comedy, staged by raw Republican recruits.

Nothing, not even the most serious efforts to avoid blaming the other side unfairly, will ever persuade me that the anger and balkanization originated anywhere but in the right wing of the Republican Party. In my lifetime I've never seen (and several Senators have said publicly they've never seen) the uncivilized behaviors in both Houses.

Worse, these guys are playing to the basest elements in their party. The fact that lazy, fat, complacent Dems are finally getting mad has led to somewhat effeminate shrieks of dismay from Republicans, here and on the Hill.

I hope the Dems will use their "anger" well rather than fall back, as the Republicans have, on money, media, and religious sects to do their dirtiest work.

Oh, don't worry george, your heartfelt concern is laudable, but unnescessary; she's long trained in the excersize, and keeps herself more than adequately fit for its practice.

Four more years
I strongly suspect that the Repubs will win the next Natl. election. The Dems don't have the program that will swing the marginal 4% that will be decisive. They are in box. Too liberal and they lose the center. Too moderate and they lose the difference with the Repub. agenda. Uh..Catch22.

In six months the issues that are hot now will be luke warm, maybe even cold. The only viable candidate is Howard Dean. I suspect that he won't have enough Electoral College votes to win.

I think that's pretty close to the way things stack up right now, pistoff.
