Ahh! Yes. Looking at things from a completely different perspective. I love it.

Thanks.

@richrf,
The school spirit is an evil spirit, it's temptation must be avoided for the sake of one's soul.

Certainly different and creative. My school was kind of boring.

@richrf,
What is, is not; yet what is not, is also.

Not really very original...but I thunk it off the top of my head. :/

Well, it's plenty original for me. I'll have to get my head around this one and see if I can riddle this one out. If someone can help me, I would appreciate it. It is not often that I am stumped.

Thank!

@richrf,
Not only is the glass half empty, it also has a chip in the rim which will cut your lip severely and possibly cause an infection, as many restaurants don't clean their glassware as carefully as they should.

Dirty restaurant cups have always been a problem with me. Especially if there are lipstick marks.

Let's keep those cups clean!

Thanks.

@richrf,
Ok, here's mine, though I'm sure it's not particularly original. It's original to me.

It's the way I look at things and it helps me understand my son when he is doing crazy things! Thanks for reminding me. Smile

It does seem like that doesn't it?

Allow me to disagree. I don't know a lot about what humans call science, but as a demon I happen to know about magic.

Magic is not about throwing fireballs and teleporting and other "special effects", as you post might imply. Magic is the insight (some might say the illusion) that the symbol is identical with the symbolized. Kill a symbolic drawing of a bison on a cave wall, and you kill the bison. Speak a word of power and you have the power. Hurt a doll symbolizing your enemy, and you hurt your enemy. Draw a symbol of a demon onto the ground, and you summon the demon. (Not that this ever happened to me.) That is magic.

@richrf,
Next time you're staring at the reflections in a pond or lake, imagine that you live on a planet where nobody can look up. The reflection in the pond is what you call: sky.

Well, maybe we should have a thread about magic - but possibly not so destructive sounding? Is there nice, nice magic? The type that make a person happy by tickling a doll?

Fascinating Arjuna. I am going to give this one some thought.

Anyway, I once was in the Surrey Caverns in Maryland, and they had an underground lake that was totally flat. When you look at the reflections, it looks like you are looking into a deep cavern even though the water is just a few inches a way. It is an incredible site that I will never forget.

Thanks again for your creative thought.

Love doesn't make the world go around; unfortunately, money does. Love just makes it a place worth being.

That reminds me of a quote from a human called Sir Peter Ustinov:

"It's not the love that propels the world, but the doubt."

Money and love. Yep, they are everywhere. Both, I guess related to feeling secure in this world. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, I have long felt that it is doubt (fear) that is the propellant. Love, happiness the reward.

Kind of interesting. Thanks for the Ustinov quote.

Doubt and fear are two completely different things.

Doubt is the fuel of progress - I don't know about Earth, but at least down here. Hell would never have been reorganized like a modern corporation if nobody had doubted the old feudal structure. R&D would never had invented Psychoanalytic Temptation if nobody had doubted the old temptation methods. And the world as you know it would have ended in the year 1999 if nobody had doubted the old Nostradamus schedule and rescheduled the end of the world to 2012.

Fear, on the other side, is rather a brake - sometimes a necessary brake, for example to avoid undermining Infernal Ideology. But fear paralizes rather than driving forward. One could even say that fear is actually the enemy of doubt, as doubting well-established ideas requires a lot of courage.
