"Socialism" Not So Negative, "Capitalism" Not So Positive
A Political Rhetoric Test

“Socialism” is a negative for most Americans, but certainly not all Americans. “Capitalism” is regarded positively by a majority of the public, though it is a thin majority. There are certain segments of the public " notably, young people and Democrats " where both “isms” are rated about equally. And while most Americans have a negative reaction to the word “militia,” the term is viewed more positively by Republican men than most other groups.

These are among the findings of a national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press that tests reactions to words and phrases frequently used in current political discourse. Overall, 29% say they have a positive reaction to the word “socialism,” while 59% react negatively. The public’s impressions of “capitalism,” though far more positive, are somewhat mixed. Slightly more than half (52%) react positively to the word “capitalism,” compared with 37% who say they have a negative reaction.

Capitalism is not what it used to be. Too many businesses are too large which means there is less competition and less innovation. Socialism is largely misunderstood and the American right manipulates the public's vague understanding of socialism to its own end.

Capitalism is positive for personal liberty.
Socialism is negative for personal freedom.

Those of us who CARE about freedom are interested in that.

a person can accomplish very little by themselves, those who want to be the best that they can be care about trying to work together. Being free to do what ever you want to do is not worth much if your options are all piss poor because people have not been working together.

Far to many people think that they are responsible for their success in life, when almost always other people have had more to do with it than they have. The ego is very good at making itself the master of its domain, without just cause.

the problem with capitalism is that those who believed in it used to understand that it is a means to an end....the purpose of capitalism is to make life better for humans. Now Capitalists only care about the health of capitalism because capitalism keeps wealth flowing towards them. Capitalists now feed people into the system. The system has been corrupted to the point that it no longer serves its purpose, it in fact works exactly against its purpose. Those who depend upon that system for personal gain will be able to keep it alive for a bit longer through deception, but you can not fool all the people all of the time. The truth will prevail, and the masses will overthrow their oppressor.

Partnerships have caused a lot of misery among the partners, but I have no wish to address VOLUNTARY partnerships.
When I was in practice as an attorney, I formed a partnership with other lawyers.
I wish to oppose n denounce authoritarian-collectivist government.

My own take is that socialism and capitalism represent both sides of a truth. It takes a melding of the two, involving compromise from both sides, to make anything work, long term.
