There are 8 of us in so far. Fbaezer (from Mexico), Johnboy (USA), George (USA), Francis (France), Sjaradona (I don't know where), Pantalones (Mexico),
Calamity Jane (USA) and Lmur (Ireland).

@realjohnboy,
1) Lionel Messi (Argentina)
2) David Villa (Spain)
3) Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)
4) Dider Drogba (Cote d'Ivoire)
5) Diego Forlan (Uruguay)

There, that's just to get a list posted. I might change this in the next few days.

@ossobuco,
Hey, Osso, you may need to change one of yours as Drogba broke a arm:

I probably have to replace one of mine as well, as Arjen is injured:

@lmur,
Seems the Chilea, Suazo, is injured and may miss the first game against Honduras (I was banking on him getting a hat-trick in that game). I'm replacing him with PETER CROUCH (England) who will waltz a couple past the porous US defence.

Revised:

1. Peter CROUCH (England)
2. Stanislav SESTAK (Slovakia)
3. FABIANO (Brazil)
4. David VILLA (Spain)
5. Robin VAN PERSIE (Netherlands)

@realjohnboy,
johnboy, I'll be rooting for Germany though (my home country). Although they have quite a few injuries now, Klose will have to play exceptionally good.

Hi folks, I'm back and tanned.
9 contestants in, a few more that said they'd join. Less than 4 days to go.

I knew Calamity Jane wanted the German flag in case she'd win.

Fantasy baseball should have given me the clue, but I wasn't aware that Pantalones is a jinx. 3 of his 5 picks are on the disabled list. I just hope 2 things: that José changes his picks and that Chicharito doesn't get hurt too.

Sjaradona, where are you from? No answer, and we'll display the UN flag.

Welcome back, Fbaezer. I know that Drogba (Ivory Coast) and Suazo (Chile) are hurt. Who is the 3rd one on Pantalones' team?
Please change my pick of Drogba in light of his injury. Substitute another Argentinian, Tevez.
I was kind of rooting for Ivory Coast.

@realjohnboy,
Drogba will probably play, but in the second round, if Ivory Coast goes past the group phase.
Same thing is expected with the Dutch star, Robben (the 3rd man in Pantalones' team). Some people speculate that he'd play the third game in the group phase (I think the Netherlands will be classified by then, and will not put their best man at risk).
Chilean officials say now that Suazo will lose the first two games, but will be able to play the third one, against Spain.

@fbaezer,
As understand the rules here, we can change our players in your Stage 2 which includes the second round. So I can pick Drogba back up then if he is able to play. Is that right? Thanks.

@realjohnboy,
Yes, johnboy, for stage 2 and 3 we can change the players - we might have to, if
South Africa wins against Mexico Wink

dear RJB - thanks for the whack upside the head

I told my deskmate I was going to look for strikers representing the following countries - Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Italy and England. He suggested I not bother with Italy.

sooo, off on my hunt with the result of

1. Luis Fabiano - BRAZILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!

2. Wayne Rooney - don't care for him but he's good

3. David Villa

4. Fernando Torres

5. Sergio Aguera

since Portugal didn't have anyone grand on offer, I'm going with Brazil as MY team this year
