Not really sure what to make of this film. Is it a documentary? A mockumentary? Some kind of metacomedy?
Quote:
THE TRIP brings director Michael Winterbottom and the hilarious Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon (24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE, A COCK AND BULL STORY) back together in a side-splitting road comedy. The film follows the pair on a hysterical odyssey that has won over audiences at the Toronto and Tribeca Film Festivals, and has critics rolling in the aisles. When Steve Coogan is asked by The Observer to tour the country's finest restaurants, he envisions it as the perfect getaway with his beautiful girlfriend. But, when she backs out on him, he has no one to accompany him but his best friend and source of eternal aggravation, Rob Brydon. As the brilliant comic duo, freestyling with flair, drive each other mad with constant competition and showdowns of competing impressions (including dueling Michael Caines, Sean Connerys and Al Pacinos), the ultimate odd couple realize in the end a rich amount about not only good food, but the nature of fame, relationships and their own lives.
During parts of this trailer you can see Chicago locations. I saw part of the location filming last August. The bus I take to work needed to be rerouted during some of the weeks when the filming was going on.
I thought the first Transformers was kind of fun (memories of brothers growing up with the toys), but agree with you on the sequels. They'll probably do well at a summer box office, though, since most of their audience will be kids.
I'd definitely watch under those circumstances. And, have to admit, having just watched the trailer you posted, this one looks kind of fun, too, so I'll most likely rent it. I like Shia...love Frances McDormand...and things getting blown up.

The Second Trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes
I wasn't planning on seeing a movie this weekend but this really adorable film crossed my path: The Names of Love,
Quote:
Baya Benmahmoud (Sara Forestier), a young, extroverted liberal, lives by the old hippie slogan: "Make love, not war" to convert right-wing men to her left-wing political causes by sleeping with them. She seduces many and so far has received exceptional results—until she meets Arthur Martin, a Jewish middle aged, middle-of-the road scientist. Bound by common tragic family histories (the Algerian War and Holocaust under Vichy), the duo improbably fall in love. Amid the bubbly amour, humorous lasciviousness and moments of sheer madness, filmmaker Michel Leclerc injects satirical riffs on such hot-button sociopolitical issues as Arab-Jewish relations, anti-Semitism, immigration, and racial and cultural identity. Winner of France's 2011 César Awards for Best Actress (Forestier) and Best Original Screenplay (co-written by director Michel Leclerc). (Fully subtitled)
I loved the first film but was so disappointed in the second. The third was almost a nonentity. Now with Brad Bird's first live action feature film and this trailer, I have hope that this latest edition to the hyperspy franchise will be a great thriller.

An official trailer for Steven Soderbergh's Contagion
"Is there any way somebody could weaponize the bird flu."
"Somebody doesn't have to weaponize the bird flu. The birds are already doing it."
That's a great trailer Wandel! I'm psyched about the top notch cast!
My amazing daughter will have her name in the credits of Contagion as a casting associate. After working with the Coen brothers on True Grit, she follows that up by working with Stephen Soderbergh! (Meanwhile, I am in Chicago working in my little civil service job.)
