@tsarstepan,
Oy! Cassel ate this film up. I adore him. He was so good in this film I searched his IMDb and was even more satisfied to view some family situation/coming of age type films.

Quite appealing.

@tsarstepan,

I have to rewatch this trailer as presently, I'm so hangry (lunch in a couple of minutes), I'm finding concentrating on anything nearly impossible.

Not sure if I find this cinema worthy or not.

@tsarstepan,
There is an interesting trailer from Christopher Nolan out. The trailer itself is mediocre, but the potential of the movie is massive. I'm going to try to construct a decent post about it.

Dunkirk

(The World War II battle where the British evacuated mainland Europe in the face of the Nazi blitzkrieg.)

Christopher Nolan will include more than 100 minutes of IMAX FILM footage in Dunkirk.

AND any scenes that are not recorded on IMAX FILM (which can't be used to record human dialog because the cameras are very noisy) will be recorded on Super Panavision 70.

35MM film need not apply.

Just for size reference:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d2/Imax_format_35mm_70mm.png

IMAX 70 on the left, Panavision 70 in the middle, 35mm on the right.

Quick note to avoid confusion: Sometimes 70MM film (both IMAX and Panavision) is referred to as 65MM film. Both are correct. It is 65MM when the movie is being filmed, and 70MM when it is being projected. The extra 5MM is devoted to audio tracks.

Also from my above link:
Quote:
Since Nolan is such a purist and despises the overuse of computer effects, he is working very hard on Dunkirk to do everything in-camera. This includes hiring hundreds of extras, blowing up air planes and sinking ships. So far the production has been littered with huge stunt sequences, most of them using models and/or sections of destroyed objects.

And from here:

Quote:
This spring it was reported that the production had acquired the French T-47 Class Destroyer, Maillé-Brézé, and it was being fixed up and brought back to functionality for use in the movie. But apparently, that's not all.

According to Indie Revolver (grain of salt, as always), Warner Bros. has paid out $5 million bucks for a vintage WWII plane, possibly one that once belonged to the German Luftwaffe, and it will be tricked out with IMAX cameras, and used in a number of sequences. And then when that's all done, they're going to crash it, in what I'm sure will be some kind of spectacular glory.

Of course, none of this is confirmed, but if any director these days can get a studio to buy them an aircraft to destroy, it's probably Christopher Nolan.

Make sure of the projection technology and not just screen size.

Resolution of IMAX FILM: 11,753 × 8,772

Resolution of IMAX w/LASER: 4,096 × 2,160 (pixels stretch when image expands to full screen height)

Resolution of Digital IMAX: 2,048 × 1,080 (image does not expand to full screen height)

You'd be surprised horrified at the number of theaters with a full-size screen that have "upgraded" by junking their IMAX FILM projector and replacing it with Digital IMAX.

@oralloy,
I'll keep that in mind. I'll have to first convince the organizer of a respective meetup group to schedule a meetup for that one. She was unaware of the Arrival film as well.

Coming out this December!
