A new China-Japan co-production is reminiscent of Hitchcock's Vertigo.
Ryo is a Japanese clockmaker living in Shanghai, China. He meets and falls in love with a woman named Ruolan. Ruolan has an identical twin sister named Rumei who is engaged to a man named Tianlun. When the twin sisters go on an overseas trip, Ruolan dies in an accident. Rumei returns home alone. Tianlun, Rumei's fiancee, begins to believe that the woman who returned is actually Ruolan and that it was Rumei who died. Tianlun asks Ryo to meet with her. Ryo also becomes uncertain about the identity of the twin who returned.

My daughter Katrina worked on the casting of the new thriller, The Loft.
The trailer will make better sense if you first know the tidbits that the studio released to gin up interest in the movie. I presume they aren't spoilers since they were officially released by the studio, but stop reading my text NOW if you don't want to know anything about the movie ahead of time.
The backdrop of the movie is that Skynet sent a terminator back to kill Sarah Conner and her parents when she was a child. The resistance sent a friendly Arnold terminator back to save them. Sarah survived but her parents were killed. The friendly Arnold terminator then took over as a parent and raised Sarah, preparing her for her future.
Skynet also sent a terminator back to kill Kyle Reese when he pops out of the time bubble in 1984. So when Kyle arrives in 1984 he doesn't find "vulnerable Sarah Conner" needing his protection, but finds himself being saved by "hardcore Sarah Conner".
(The trailer is available in high definition if you view it directly on YouTube.)
Duncan Jones is an incredible director. This video game to film adaptation can't be dismissed so easily now. The only problem now is the studio. How much creative control does Jones have for his first big budget studio film?
