And:
Seamounts = which?

Context:

Seamounts Identified as Significant, Unexplored Territory
ScienceDaily (Apr. 29, 2010) " Scientists from NOAA and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi were astounded to find that seamounts, mountains that rise from the seafloor, rank as some of the most common ocean habitats in the world. Their findings are published in a new study and reverse previous beliefs about the prevalence of seamounts, which are treasure troves of marine biodiversity.

@oristarA,
Seamounts are underwater mountains.

So if you say "...the prevalence of seamounts, which are treasure troves...." the "which" refers to the seamounts -- the seamounts are a treasure trove of biodiversity.

Rank means where on a list it would fall if you were to put things in some order -- say from most common to least common sea habitats. Seamounts are very common so they would rank very high on your list.
