Aaaggh, I lost my entry re never seeing a very young blue heron but seeing an older one on my pond, and then I went searching a picture of my so called pond.
A half hour later, I nabbed the photo of the 'pond' but not what I said about it.

I'll show it anyway - my old loved back garden. The "Pond" is a large decorative concrete pot with concrete boring drill holes for pump and drainage with stopper. That is the white apparent circle. There's gravel at the base and water and fish and plants on top. Hard to tell what is in front or behind in the photo, but the plants behind are not in the "pond". I had water hyacinths there, culled extremely often, near daily, and gambusa, aka, mosquito fish. That photo would have been pre cull. Not the best choice, but hey.. I was playing and learning.

THAT'S where the blue heron landed.

Quote:
Mount Etna, by far the largest of Italy’s three active volcanoes, has erupted spectacularly overnight, sending a fountain of lava rocketing 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) into the sky, accompanied by both a tremendous, 3-kilometer-high (1.9 miles) ash plume and iridescent, volcanic lightning.
