I've roamed the fakahatchee quite a bit, and I saw a number of orchids but never saw one in bloom. I never saw a ghost orchid at all, but they don't even have leaves as far as I know.

The fakahatchee became famous because of the movie, "Adaptation". If they actually did film the movie in the fakahatchee, it didn't look like any part of it that I had seen.

I was drawn there by Susan Orlean's excellent book, "The Orchid Thief". I was spending a couple of weeks in Naples and decided to go looking.

Alas, no luck. Sad
