@farmerman,
I'll just take the V-8 please. I can't imagine the V-8 can cover the bitter taste of beer so why even bother and waste a decent tomato juice.

@tsarstepan,
when both are icy cold, its really good. v-8 cant sell its own way out of its slumping sales so I thought some creative sales may help them and beer sales

@farmerman,
Tomato beer was the number one mixed in Oklahoma when I lived there. I have heard rumors they have since allowed the sale of alcoholic beverages without the fiction of being a member of a private club.

I assume the Baptists are still brown bagging it in the shade of the old cottonwood behind the church while the womenfolk put the finishing touches on the fried chicken and potato salad.

@farmerman,
Garden Cocktail is a Canadian market only cousin of V-8. Used to be made by E. D. Smith, now it's owned by Motts.

It's described as a "spirited" vegetable blend. I find it a bit tangier than V-8, but without that heavy celery undercurrent. As much as I love to chomp on celery, I don't like it in my veggie drinks.

@farmerman,
I'm pretty sure they've got it in the Maritimes. I'll lob a question to Montana over on Facebook to see if she sees it in the stores there.

Try Clamato too. It's a staple in Canadian liquor cabinets. Nothing like a cold ceasar on a hot day. That's clam and vodka, but to stick to the topic a red eye or clam eye is what most folks drink up here, draft beer and clam. a to.

@Ceili,
Ha!

I was just getting a link to the story of good old Canadian Clamato juice

http://www.mottsclamato.com/about.php

Quote:
A Canadian creation, the Caesar or Bloody Caesar was invented to celebrate the opening of Marco's Italian restaurant at the Calgary Inn in 1969. Resident mixologist Walter Chell was commissioned to develop this new cocktail. Inspired by the flavours of Spaghetti Vongole (spaghetti with clams), Chell combined sweet (tomato juice), salty (clam nectar), sour (lime), spicy (Worcestershire sauce) and bitter (celery salt) in his new concoction.

I knew some persons that drank beer and tomato juice every day. Trying to recall if it was in California or Texas. I never did give it a try.

@patiodog,
I thought a chelada was just lime juice and salt and sometimes tabasco
