There seem to be a need/desire on the part of some people to find a reason to fear dogs or some dogs at least.
What is very sad is that the Pit Bull breed of dogs in the wrong hands had been torture beyond believed and then to add insult to this mixed because of the fact that they had been torture into fighting each others they had been "breed" to be fighting dogs and not safe to be around in the opinion of some on this thread.
Sorry but redneck backyard breeders do not have the ability to change the nature of any dog breed form over a hundred thousands years of evolution and human breeding in such a manner. Any more then the Doberman breed could be turn into human killing machines as claimed in the 1960s.
The example I had pointed out is the case of the dogs that Vick and his friends was fighting. First he needed to kill a large percent of the dogs due to the fact that no matter how must pressure was place on them they would not fight.
Second it is my understanding that except for one dog all the survivals was recondition and most place into normal homes some of them with children without problems.
We all should be very ashame of ourselves to allow this kind of animal abused to go on and second to used the fact of this very abused to claim that the dogs are not fit for normal human/dog lives.
We live in a society surround with tens of millions of large dogs including the Pit Bull breed and yet the death rate from all dogs attacks is so low you would be a hundred times more likely to win a state lottery then die as a result of a dog attack.
I got hurt by a pit bull once. She ran to lick me and be pet and the lead she was on wrapped around my ankle and gave me a wicked rope burn. What a vicious dog.
@Bella Dea,
IM SORRY TO HEAR THAT I THINK IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TRAINING AND THE LITER
@BillRM,
THAT WAS WELL SPOKEN I AGREE
Law, I was just kidding. It was meant to be sarcastic. The worst thing a pit did to me was give me an unintentional rope burn.
@Bella Dea,
Consider yourself lucky, BD.
