Chinese Scholar Jumps to His Death Three Months After He Left the United States
Tu Xinxu, 32, a scholar with PhD degree who just returned from United States to his motherland China three months ago, jumped from an 11-story general building of Zhejiang University to ground and was killed immediately. The day was September 17 this year. He left behind a 6-page will to his wife, who is still waiting her job assignment, and his 3-year-old daughter.
@oristarA,
Scholar Jumps to His Death Three Months after He Left Chicago
Chinese Scholar Commits Suicide After His Recent Return to China
Tu Xinxu, 32, a PhD scholar, recently returned to China three months ago after residing and working in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Xinxu jumped to his death from an 11-story building of the Zhejiang University on September 17. He is survived by his wife and his 3-year-old daughter. Currently his wife is still waiting her job assignment.
@tsarstepan,
Thank you.
But the scholar didn't survive (not "He is survived by his wife and his 3-year-old daughter").

Interesting. We understand what Tartespan meant. Perhaps you need to read again oris. you may just have mixed up what was intended.
"The dead man is survived by his wife and 3 year old daughter".
This passage refers to the wife and daughter still living.
@dadpad,
Well, I've learnt another customed expression of English.
Thank you both.
either leave out "recently" or "three months ago", don't use both. "recently" omitted is probably better.
"customary" not "customed" (I'm not sure that's a word)
"He is survived by his wife and 5 year-old daughter. [don't need second "his"]. He left a six-page will."
(I disagree with stepan on that--"is survived by" is I think a customary, if stiff, convention in obits).
The headline is a little weird, since phrasing it like that makes it sound as if leaving Chicago was somehow part of why he made the fatal plunge.
