@littlebee01cn,
I can't help from that.....though others might be able to.

Can you give some more context for the sentence?

@littlebee01cn,
I would guess, and I stress guess, is that it means abberations. Statistical people seem to plot points on a graph and make the line more or less average out the actual data points. I'm guessing that the "broken edges" are points too far outside the cluster to be considered. I don't do statistics, but I believe I've seen this done.

@littlebee01cn,
I am guessing it has to do with image processing.

I think this and the other thread refer to standards applied to the supply of particular goods for import or export. It would be useful to know what sort of goods are involved.

@fresco,
Could be. Brown could be right, too. We've probably gone as far as we can.

@fresco,
These particular goods are most probably steel pipes and steel sheets...

Thank you all and I am sorry for the confusion caused.

Broken edges are from EN 22768-1:1993(eqv ISO 2768-1: 1989)----a mechanical standard for machining.
I am not very sure about the exact meaning of the broken edges. I think they are not regular linear edges. Is it correct?

More context:
EN 22768-1:1993
ISO 2768-1: 1989
General tolerances "Part 1: Tolerances for linear and angular dimensions without individual tolerance indications

Table 1 " Permissible deviations for linear dimensions except for broken edges
Table 2 " Permissible deviations for broken edges (external radii and chamfer heights)
Table 3 " Permissible deviations of angular dimensions

@littlebee01cn,
Steel sheets are submited to different chemical and mechanical treatments.
The machines settings must be accurate in order to prevent problems like this:

Quote:
Burnt Edges - Broken edges occurring during hot-rolling and caused by overheating or burning.
