simply is an adverb to describe how you put together this information.

I mean "to determine the sense of 'simply' in the above quotation.
by simply combining the words "sex" with 'text", we get 'sexting", an idiom meaning to text sexual messages to one another.

It has the same sense as 'just', Fansy. When we substitute 'just' for 'simply' does it make sense to you?
