Bra-burning = making a show of great bra?

Context:
"The same Republicans who attack Democrats for being too P.C. about race now howl about sexism with such abandon you half-expect Phyllis Schlafly and Carly Fiorina to stage a bra-burning." - Frank Rich

PC stands for politically correct. It refers to forms of speech which are acceptable, but most importantly, forms of speech which are not acceptable, such as racist remarks or sexist remarks.

@oristarA,
Bra burnings are (or were, they don't seem to happen any more) events in which women burn their bras to symbolize their independence.

@oristarA,
Oh hey, was that from my profile?

The additional meaning there is that Phyllis Schlafly and Carly Fiorina are two Republican women who have typically been anti-feminist.

That quote was about how Sarah Palin (U.S. Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008) was being defended by Republicans, who claimed that Mrs. Palin was a victim of sexism.
