ONCE, MONTHS AGO
Said the coach to the batter named Luntz,
"It's been months since your bunts have gone fair."
Said Luntz to the coach with a stare,
"Oh, those pitchers, those runts, have been throwing stunts,
I hunts'em and get nothing but air."
"Ah, Luntz, you big dunce, I'll tell you this once,
you'd better put stick to the ball,
there a batter named Muntz on our second string team,
he wants your position by fall."
So, Luntz felt the crunch, 'twas just like a punch
that hit him like a bolt full of thunder,
He only had months to turn his punts into bunts
or Muntz would be wearing his number.

													@oristarA,
												Pronunciation will vary, obviously, depending on register and dialect.
muntz usually, though you will sometimes hear the 'th' sound followed by 's'.

												I spent some time with a group of gals from Boston last week in Florida. Their motto was, "Put it on the cod." - at least that's how I hear it (after laughing). What they meant was, "Put it on the card (credit card).'
I asked them how they pronouced C-O-D
Then how they pronounced C-A-R-D
They were amazed this Michigander could not hear the difference between the two.
(But that could have been because we spent a lot of time at the tiki bar.)

												You should talk to a Texan trying to pronounce PIN or PEN.
PIN is spoken as pen.
PEN is spoken as pin.

I know a woman, outwardly normal, who says "mumpfs".
(She has a PhD....but not in pronunciation, obviously)

													@McTag,

Many English speakers round here get away with saying "munts". It's bit tricky sayning "months", especially if you're speaking quickly.
