Can we just shoot these parents?

Even though only a tiny fraction of the people are freaks, that's still a lot of freaks. They belong in jail.

Can the parents at least have Jamaican Beef Patties? Or a steak and kidney pie?

At first I thought this was an older story, as I remember something similar from a few years back.
Same story, child starved, kept in closet, no one said a word.

I remember seeing the mother in a news story, and she was a great fat pudding.

Apparantly, that woman, and this mother were both afraid their children were going to "steal" so much food, they wouldn't have enough to shove into their own fat maws.

I dont' know--shooting them might be considered a kindness. I suggest we find a prison with an unused wing, lock them in a cell, and then go away and leave them to starve to death. You'd want an unused wing, though, so the screaming and moaning wouldn't bother the other inmates.

I do believe that parents that torture their kids like that should be shot however.

I think at some level a person who would do that is insane (never mind that I understand official insanity would not likely be agreed upon by psychiatrists, and what is insanity anyway? judicial or whatever) and probably has troubled history of some sort to start out with. Probably bereft of anything like empathy. I'm am against capital punishment, sometimes by the skin of my teeth, and this is one of those times. (Not that they've been tried, yet, so this is just conjecture, if and when they in the future are found guilty).

I think a lot of behavior is part of a powerful cycle and intervention is key. Killing the (----) after the fact is running around slashing after the gate was left open. So, I see this as at least in part society's failure, to catch this was going on.

How does a kid steal food from their own refridgerator?

Oh sure, sometimes you get something special, and ask others please not to eat it. sometimes kids eat badly or too much themselves, and have to have some kind of restrictions.

You want to deprive someone (human or animal) of something, be it food, water, adequate clothing and shelter, yet you feel you have free reign to overendulge yourself?

It would be terrible if a normal size or thin person did this. It's just that much sicker when the woman flaunted her ability to eat whatever the hell she wanted, to the point of obesity, in front of her starving daughter.

I was going to post pretty much the same thing as Setanta. Shooting them would be too kind. Part of me thinks they should be left to starve in a cell, part wants them to be be barely kept alive for twelve years, part of me wants them to get psychological help.
