oh, yeah..CQ. I hope you are enjoying the deep political discussion....

I, for what it's worth, normally, have nothing of import to say. And that is all I would like to say now.

Well it's good to see light heartedness and good humor. If you can't laugh every once in a while, what's the point in living?

Generally, debate here is civil. It gets bad from time to time, and it is likely that others might blame me a great deal for that. Be that as it may.

There is another board which i frequently visit, which for a very long time did not allow political or religious threads. They will police themselves, reminding one another to "attack the idea, not the person." A problem i have seen here, and never have seen there, is when someone casts aspersions on a public figure (Clinton or Bush, for example), and a partisan of that public figure takes it as a personal affront, and responds with insults.

At this other site, they have now instituted two threads, one on current events, and another on the middle east, and it was originally pretty rigorously policed. That has fallen off, though, when the natural civil behavior developed over the four years of that site's existence made itself felt. Trolls began to show up more often, but most people either played with them and laughed, or reminded one another not to feed the trolls.

No site is perfect, this one is better than most by a country mile.
