How do you treat achillies tendonitis?

Excuse the spelling errors. I'm not a hundred percent sure that my achillies pain is from tendonitis but it hurts to walk and run and it makes a creaky like noise.

Run, walk, barefoot.

Stop wearing heels.

@micahhasenburg,
Only a doctor can give a true diagnosis, but I found using a simple brace like the one pictured below made a very big difference. You can buy them in pharmacies for about $20:

@micahhasenburg,
Are your calf muscles tight? If so, try giving them a good stretch ... heels hanging off a step for about 10 seconds -- do that several times a day. See if you can increase the flexibility in your calves. I know it helps with plantar fasciitis, and would probably help with achilles pain.

@Ticomaya,
Some people have their testicles removed.

Yeah, that would probably help with achilles pain too.

@Ticomaya,
Or at least take you mind off of it.

@micahhasenburg,

i've had it for a few months now.
chalking it up to being in my 40's.
they stiffen up when i sit for long periods of time.

walking around loosens them back up.
i might try those braces if it gets worse.
will watch thread for other treatment suggestions...

@Region Philbis,
Seriously, spend more time barefoot and stretch.

swimming is usually good for most leg injuries. it takes the weight and pressure off yet still allows 100% movement

Hi have just completed my holistic massage course and I reckon massage could help. My Tutor was also a sports therapist and he did wonders with my achiles tendon injury. I think you should find a sports therapist. Good luck X
