Have people yet started to complain about the rain?

(Jeeze, Miss Olga, get an umbrella, will ya? You look like something the cat dragged in . . . )

@Setanta,
Of course, we're not complaining, Setanta! This is like a gift from the gods!

Actually I did look like something that the cat had dragged in after copping about 30 seconds of the downpour, running to my car the other day. Soaked to the skin, clothes stuck to my body, dripping hair stuck to my scalp, squelching sandals .... it was a wonderful drive home! Very Happy

@msolga,
Looks fabulous!

The weather here has been the torment of Tantalus!!!

The forecast, a couple of days ago, promised a 100% probability of getting 14 mms on Friday!

The next day, it forecast NO possibility of rain in Friday.

I think we got about 1.2 mms on Thursday, instead.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

@dlowan,
Never mind!
Your flood will come, Deb. We all seem to get a go, sooner or later.
Apparently Sydney's had a thorough drenching, too.

The world is washed anew.

I might just roll in the wet grass. Very tempting.

There has been a fair bit of rain here, too.

Some even fell in the catchment area (an almost unknown event!)

My wooden outdoor furniture has turned green with moss / slime or something. But the garden (what I have) is going absolutely mad. I'll need a machete to get to the front door soon! Confused

No complaints, though, Setanta!

@margo,
People here piss and moan and complain about the winter, the snow, the ice, etc., etc. Then, when summer comes along, they complain about the heat and the thunderstorms. I guess i just took it as human nature.

I thought you'd received torrential downpours, margo. Like flash flooding & such.

Yes, to a point I agree.

But we in southern Oz have become quite obsessed by the weather! Too many years of really serious drought. (around year 10 now?) It is seriously worrying & scary, I tell ya!

It rains here (in Melbourne) or in Adelaide & it's a major event! A cause for rejoicing! Very Happy

So, will this make the brush fires less likely?

The rain? Not likely at this stage, Setanta.

No flooding in my area, thank goodness - but there have been some areas hit pretty badly.

Olga's right - we've all been in drought so long that the rain is bloody welcome, anywhere.

@margo,
Yes, I saw the NSW reports on the news, margo. Wow! Wet!

I'm really glad you missed out on having your home flooded. Not a nice experience!

I was home during the last downpour here & rushed around the place strategically placing my 8 (used for grey water) buckets around the place. And they were all filled!

If I came into a surprise windfall, I think I'd spend the $$$$ on installing as many of those new fang-dangled tanks (which fit into odd spaces) as possible. All that precious water disappearing down the street! Neutral

We seem to be back to (sort of) the historical average.

52 yr average Jan 49.3 mm Feb 39.3 mm
This year Jan 64.4 mm Feb 37.7 mm (to date with most of Feb still to come)
(25 mm = 1 inch)

Rain at this time of year tend to be assocuiated with electirical activity (lighning) which is always a problem in summer.

Thanks, Boss. I knew i had asked you that before, but couldn't recall what you had told me. I know i could have done some research on my own, but i also trust that you know what you're talking about, and i'm lazy, so . . .
