@dlowan,
Thanks, Deb, even though I am not personally in one of the fire-threatened areas,
I needed a hug. Yesterday was a bugger of a day at work, and, driving home in what felt like a ferocious gale .. with seemingly non-stop ABC radio messages about "personal fire plans" (residents deciding whether to stay or go, etc) & constant reminders of the likely 125 kph winds in fire-endangered area ... well, it felt a little like the end of the world as we know it!
(A 1/4 of the state was blacked out last night, too, as a result of wind damage. Perfect ending to a horrible day.
)
I am happy to report that (after a good night's sleep) I awoke to find that it had
rained in many parts of Victoria last night!
That all the existing fires have been "contained". And that we are in for a much cooler week (top of 19 c today!
) so the job of getting the worst of the fires well & truly under control (extinguised even?!) is looking good.
More rain appears to be on the cards, too.
What a difference a day makes!
Thanks again, Deb.
