Big surf here, bigger on way
Storm off Aleutians may generate waves up to 40 feet next week

Waves could top 20 feet today on the north shores of O'ahu, Kaua'i and Maui, the National Weather Service said yesterday in issuing a high-surf advisory. But even bigger surf may be on the horizon.

An accompanying surf forecast said there is a "strong potential for warning level surf late this weekend into the middle of next week."

Some surf forecasters and big-wave watchers are suggesting that waves having 40-foot faces are a possibility, with the surf being the biggest it's been in 15 years.

Surfing has always been one of my passions but the fact that I reside in Kansas has diminished my ability to pursue such activities

Waves only the real pro surfers should attempt. Well, other than bleach blond permanent waves.

@Sglass,
We do get ten to twenty footers at The Wedge in Newport Beach but not that often. Now we've got the first El Nino storm headed this way, so we'll see! I remember visiting a business partner at the Laguna Royale condos on the water at Laguna Beach one evening and the waves were coming in so high, they were splashing up over two stories after hitting some sheer rocks below.

@Rockhead,
You take 30 quarts of green grasshoppers.

Chop the little legs off and discard.

use a goodly amount of armadilla broth over the little grasshoppers and bring to a boil.

Chop up the usual, onions, garlic, green pepper, bunch of seasonings. Maybe some carrots, celery (dill is good too).

You'll know its done. All the little grasshopper eyes with come loose and will be floating on top.

Serve with pan bread with cacti jelly.

There's a real story behind this gourmet delight.

I once remarked to a retired postmaster as we listened to the incessant, incoherent chattering of a demented woman from the woods, "She is kind and a beautiful woman, but her words ring hollow."

She is a very cool lady, Abel. Well, she is a bit strange at times and has an unusual propensity for choosing mates, but, like I said, she is tolerable and actually a bit charming.
