Television exec: The couple that crashed the first state dinner has offered to talk to networks for a large sum.
To "shop for" something in this context means to look for it (like someone visiting lots of shops hoping to find a certain product).

They are trying to shop their project - trying to find someone to sell their interview to.
There are two reasons for shopping the story: 1) to get their story out; and 2) to get the most possible money for the story.
