[] North Carolina college student who federal authorities say is suspected of placing box cutters and other banned items aboard two Southwest Airlines jets to demonstrate gaps in airport security was expected in federal court in Baltimore today. But it was not clear yesterday what criminal charges, if any, he might face.
The student, Nathaniel T. Heatwole, 20, a junior at Guilford College in Greensboro, a Quaker school with a tradition of pacifism and civil disobedience, acknowledged in a weekend interview with The Greensboro News & Record that he was the person questioned by F.B.I. agents on Friday in connection with the incidents.

I think rather than a jail term Mr. Heathwole deserves a commendation for finding and pointing up a hole in our security system. What do you think?
