Yeah, I agree, c.i. Jimmy Carter's problem was the diametrical opposite of Richard Nixon's. Here was a thoroughly honest, decent man who simply wasn't capable of playing hard-ball politics. As a president he was probably an excellent peanut farmer.

Also, with Nixon, he'd had a chip on his shoulder from day one. "You won't have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore..."

He had already been a successful Senator and the Vice President.

My memory isn't that good trying to remember that far back, but I agree with David that Nixon had it pretty good until Watergate.
