And for her fans, young and old, Dorothy Edwards will remain the creator of a naughty little sister who, whether she is fidgeting or grumbling, refusing to eat her crusts or covering herself in trifle, hiding from fireworks or biting Father Christmas, throwing her sis’s doll out of the window or paying a formal visit on Mrs Cocoa Jones is at all times and unquestionably herself.

Does "trifle" here refers to something like cakes?
Is "Mrs Cocoa Jones" a nickname, meaning she often offers Cocoa Cola to childre?

Yes, she was getting layered cake all over herself.

Cocoa is her name. It is not connected with Coca-Cola.

@fansy,
Dorothy Edwards is an author who wrote the "My Naughty Little Sister" books for children. The items you marked refer to specific events in those stories. Trifle is a dessert cake. Mrs Cocoa Jones is a character from on of the stories.
