@msolga,
Msolga, the whole thing is on youtube, that was just part one, the rest are here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/VH1tunes

The comments are really funny actually, including a mispelling of 'nazi'.

What people reading here need to remember is that anybody who socialises regularly in English pubs, as I do, knows full well that Mr Griffin's position is often presented in those establishments with far more force than he dare do in public. He is choosing his words very carefully and is an expert in that rhetorical art. He was talking past the studio audience.

The media cartel and the denizens of the Westminster village, who have been shown to be a bit easy going with the taxpayer's money, are seen by Mr Boozer as being out of touch with working class opinion to the extent that they don't give a damn about it. They treat it in the same flippant manner the Romans treated their provinces until they blew apart.

The rise of the BNP is entirely due to that.

And it doesn't matter what posters here think about the issues aired on the programme. It is a political matter. It's about votes and people who think they are being let down.

But when all is said and done we have made some progress. Mr Griffin did go into the heart of the enemy camp. He wouldn't have got out of Rome alive doing the same thing. We ought to be proud of that.

@McTag,
Hmmmm. A bit of a worry!:

Quote:
Yes. I believe many of the voters/ sympathisers of the BNP see themselves as "victims", the forgotten British working class. Not all are racist pure and simple.
To see their leader vilified by the middles classes on TV will increase their resentment, I feel.
I think the BNP poll figures will go up as result of this week's debate, particularly since our immigration controls are in such a mess.

Ministers warn of poll boost for BNP after Question Time:

@msolga,
I wouldn't bother if I was you Olga. Like all Question Times it was likely a load of drivel. The chairman is a dickhead.

@spendius,
But, as I said before, spendius, I really am interested in this issue. (Also doing a bit of belated catch-up research on the BNP.)

I haven't much time now, but I read your last few posts. It'll be interesting to see how other Brit posters respond to what you've said.

@msolga,
I don't think they will respond. They are all wet liberals and keeping their fingers crossed.

@spendius,
No, I think they will.
Me, I'm as just interested in the political fall-out of the global economic downturn on the "strugglers" in Oz as I am in the UK. Say nothing of the US & other countries. My fear is that political movements like the BNP could be perceived as the only voice speaking on behalf a lot of people having a very rough time of things at the moment. Especially if this ferments even more racial intolerance & leads to more scapegoating than already exists.
But, as I said, I'm short of time at the moment, so later ......

@msolga,
That's o.k. msolga!

Hmm. I don't know, spendius.
It was laughable when Jack Straw said that the rise of the BNP wasn't a direct response to immigration policy.
I would be more inclined to think the polls would go up had he articulated his views better or not tried to deny video footage of himself, even if all the racist jazz hadn't been happening he'd have come across as more bogus than your average politician. And I didn't even really see the point of him trying to appear moderate- the people against him have already made up their mind.

@The Pentacle Queen,
Mr Straw has to appear moderate. He's treading a sharp edge in thin soled shoes and an election is not far off.

His own constituency is a conundrum. And he's thinking in terms of positioning himself for a leadership bid if Labour lose the election as the betting says they will. Or even as a compromise leader if there is a hung parliament.

@spendius,

Saw a headline, "Could David Cameron be the Last British Prime Minister?"

The Conservatives win, and Scotlands secedes.

Makes yer fink, dunnit.

Certainly with Scotland out, there'd be little chance of a Labour majority ever again in England. John Major's vision might come true.

@McTag,
What does it mean Mac--Scotland secedes?

Might it mean that all the Scots living in England will have to choose citizenship and the ones who stay Scottish will be aliens with the same status as other aliens.

What do you think Northern Ireland would do in that event?

Or that a Scottish government could sign a defence pact with, say, Russia? It could hardly defend itself.

It's influence on our Security Council seat at the UN would vanish.

Seems even her majesty was watching Question Time!
I found this article yesterday, while doing a read-around of online UK newspapers. (Yes, even the News of the World! Wink ) Interesting, interesting ...

Queen fury at BNP

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00062/queen280_62902a.jpg

Quote:
She's furious at the party for using Winston Churchill to promote its racist image and has ORDERED all the royals to join forces with her to unite Britain against hated BNP leader Nick Griffin. A senior royal aide told us: "The Queen thinks it is a disgrace that the name of such a courageous leader in our hour of need has been hijacked in this way. <cont>...

@spendius,
It's a pretty wild rag, alright. I'm surprised I found any news in there at all, amongst the sea of boobs & bottoms! Rupert has a bit to answer for, I think.

But I wonder who in Bucking ham Palace thought a leak to NOTW would be a good idea?
