OK, so I got tired of the company-supplied avatar I have.

So I went to my profile page to see what else could be done. Right there it suggests one go to gravatar.com to get help in posting an avatar of one's choice.

OK, so I clicked on this gravatar link.

Jeezuss, these people speak a language only vaguely reminiscent of standard English. I gotta tell ya, I have not the foggiest notion of how to post an avatar of my own choosing or how to use this gravatar site. I plead absolute electronic stupidity.

If anyone with teaching skills and the patience to give me a kindergarten variety tutorial wishes to volunteer to do os, it would be greatly appreciated.

@Merry Andrew,
What's the prob?

Firstly, do you have an avatar picture you wish to use stored on your computer?

And have you registered so you have an account?

@Merry Andrew,
I'll walk you through it, one step at a time.
First? Do you have an image you want to use?

@Merry Andrew,
WAIT A GODDAM MINIT!!
MA, do you need some kind of photo or piece of art to post as your avatar? ( Its true, the one you have makes you appear like your are either
1a total rookie or

2Someone who makes quilts

Might I reccomend a picture of General Joseph Johnston (famous Civil War General who was first to say
"Ya doesnt has ta call me Johnston").
How bout AMelia Earhardt? Or, hmmmmmm, I see you as a DOnald Trump.

Once ya have a picture. STore it in "My pictures" Then we can go from there.

You do know how to grab a photo from the Net? Yes?.

STepan and Deb will now talk you through the rest. I must off and fight Crime and /or EVIL.

PS, heres a picture of Joseph E Johnston

You guys are the greatest. Particularly appreciate all of your suggestions, tsarstepan. And yours ain't bad either, farmer. djjd62 has very kindly PMd me a quite detailed tutorial on how to get into the gravatar game and I'll try to follow his directions. Haven't decided what to use for an image yet. Maybe one of tsarstepan's. Then again, I have this photo of myself, dressed in cowboy gear, standing at the grave of Billy the Kid (aka William Bonney) in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Hmmmm...

@Francis,
I'm impressed, Francis. I don't even have that picture myself. Now, if you could only manage to post it where my avatar should be . . .

That stupid gravatar site won't let me register. Won't accept the combination of my e-mail and password even though there's no doubt I'm posting the password which works fine everywhere else. Ah, me. Computer illiteracy is such a burden.

@Merry Andrew,
I seem to recall something like that, but maybe I'm dreaming. Is it possible that putting in a password tells it that you have already registered? Usually, when you sign up for one of these things, it asks for the password twice for new members. In other words, see if there is a way to register, instead of logging in.

Aw, heck. I'm just guessing.
