This pix of
moi that I use for my A2k online avatar was taken at our San Francisco gathering several years ago by either Calamity Jane or cicerone impostor, I forget who now. Outside of the fact that it's a flattering shot (in reality I'm an ugly bastard), the photo has obviously sentimental value for me. It's not only me; it has a connection to A2k and our online community.
What about
your avatar if you use a distinctive one? Any stories behind your particular choices?
For years I have used photos of myself. Recently I opted to hide behind a favorite cartoon character. Pogo is a link to my brother, who died a few years back. He was inspired by the artist and he corresponded with him for a time.
These are my eka pada mudflap girls.
@Lustig Andrei,
I just loved the contradiction between the associations we have with lil white bunnies and the obvious dissipation and world weariness as soon as I saw this avatar in the old A2k avatar library.
This is the little dog girl at the beach in winter. She is now departed, and i still grieve for her.
That avatar picture is of my human master, named Russ. BTW, I'm his Toy Poodle, JellyBean.
All Easter, all the time, bitchez.
All good stuff, guys. Keep 'em comin'.
Katy, my dear. Also dear to some of the rest of us.
I also sometimes show Pacco dono, name my version of italian for gift package, rescue corgi extraordinaire of now years ago, and Sand Paw, found on the tracks and born to wander in Venice, CA, in the seventies. My first dog of my own. One of these days I'll get some slides printed of Kelly, our lumbaryard irish setter, beautiful past measure; he loved us and we loved him.
@Lustig Andrei,
My new one is my partner and I, still not married and still not living together after five years. Soon though!
@EqualityFLSTPete,
Five years is a long time. What's keeping you guys from at least moving in with each other? (Cheaper that way, y'know?
) (Nice pic, btw.)
@Lustig Andrei,
We both own our homes and don't want to rent one out. When marriage is legal in Florida that will be the time for us then we will sell the two and buy one together
@Lustig Andrei,
I wanted to post something original but also with some connection to me. So it's a sketch I did.
@Germlat,
Nice. But that's not a self-portrait, is it?
@Lustig Andrei,
No , it's imagined . Everything I draw is imagined. I get bored otherwise.
When I saw this avatar thing enabled, I ran through recent indulgent selfies and chose the one that partially hid my whole honking face. Forgot the intricate process of changing them or I would, since I am now embarrassed of this utterly ridiculous one. Yay me.
@Lash,
It's simple, really. Just click on the gravatar link and it will allow you to select a new pic from your computer.
@edgarblythe,
Off to look for said gravatar link... Please don't time me
