Which one of the following versions do you accept?

If I were Greek, I would go for the first. If I were Indian, I would accept the second.

Both of them are awkwardly expressed in English:

But since I suddenly dropped from Olympus to Hades, changed from a wunderkind to a pariah, ...

The use of the definite article before Olympus and Hades is inappropriate.

from (the) empyrean to hell; from wonder child to Dalits...

Ironically, this sentence didn't use the definite article with empyrean, and although it is not necessary, it would very likely have been used in 19th century writing, when the term empyrean was commonly used (it is used in the contemporary world, but not commonly). The definite article shouldn't be used before "hell" and i would probably capitalize it--Hell--but i wouldn't say it has to be capitalized.
