I thought "13 Days" about the Cuban Missile Crisis was quite good, and I don't know if a film made by A & E counts, but I liked "The Crossing" about Washington crossing the Delaware to attack the Hessians at Trenton, despite one or two historical fibs.
I'm particularly fond of 'Anne of The Thousand Days,' chronicling the tragic romance between Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. I can't vouch for it's histrical accuracy, though I don't think it's an historical farce such as 'Braveheart.' It's a beautifully crafted piece of art.
As an aside, I adore your handle, Setanta. I'm a great fan of Celtic mythological cycles. The Red Branch Cycle in general (and Culan's Hound in particular) is a favourite of mine.
