I would like to know if there is a Latin version or translation of the saying "what doesnt kill you makes you stronger"?

In reality, what doesn't kill you could very well maim you for life.

Who comes up with these expressions anyway?

Someone who wants you to not think and make judgements for yourself apparantly.
