You're right Rockhead. I've been to Texas a few times and I have an outstanding speeding ticket while driving on the 10 freeway back in '05. Therefore, I am a fugitive.
To me, what he was saying wasn't that funny (except for the part about "She's hitting him with her Bible -- it's a hardbound RSV) (that detail cracked me up)).
It was the fact that he was laughing so hard that made me laugh.
I recall reading something about why they put laugh tracks on TV comedies -- that if you hear someone else laugh that you are more likely to think something is funny and laugh along with them.

Me too, Nick. One 4th of July weekend some years ago I was stopped for speeding in West Texas three times and ticketed for that offence twice, all within about half an hour. Haven't paid either ticket. I'm sure the Tejas Rangers are out looking for me.
Googling "infectious laughter" gave several clips plus this news item.

In early 1962 a laughter epidemic broke out in a girls' convent school in Tanzania. The giggling frenzy spread around the country affecting over 1,000 people and forcing 14 schools to close until it was finally contained over two years later.

@Merry Andrew,
Hwey Merry. I must be i the clear because when it came time to renew my drivers licence here in CA I was told that I had no outstanding violations anywhere in the country. They either dropped the charges or they are waiting for me at the border.
