I am afraid to open the link. It will most likely call some office police and I will be removed immediately and without conversation from my humble duties. But I must see what this is? Please tell me….

An A2k ad " a beautiful woman, eyes, head tilted slightly, I look of potential desire " scroll down and you see cleavage. And is says Play Now! My Lord. What the devil is this? What would I be playing and do I want to? It also says in much smaller lettering Evony Free Forever!

Are we going porn?

@Linkat,
I have seen the ad-- I don't see how you could call this porn (maybe you haven't spent enough time looking at real porn).

Do we really need to be afraid of cleavage?

@ebrown p,
It can have work implications for some people who may not be afraid of cleavage themselves. But there's not much we can do about it just yet.

It's pretty hard to play safeguard over the ads on the site without dramatically cutting ad revenue and putting the site in a precarious position (e.g. just sticking to one company's texts ads) so we avoid the really nasty stuff (popups, extreme animation, auto play audio ads, site overlays, intersitals, real porn and nudity, and most of all malware) as well as we can and I think we are right about at the sweet spot where we clear server costs without the advertising becoming obnoxious.

I think the only improvement we can reasonably make with the site's business model is to introduce an ad-free version for those who want it because we are filtering ads about as aggressively as we can and no matter what we do there's a chance that an objectionable ad will come up. I wonder if there are many members interested in such an option, we'd probably give it away for free to the long-time members.

Anyone want an ad-free version of able2know?

I wonder how practical this option would be. Some, like myself, are already running programs that block out ads of various kinds. It works fine here.

@Robert Gentel,
I pretty much tune out ads, anyway. No big deal.

@edgarblythe,
My only problem with ads like the one Linkat is commenting on is that they do tend to distract one when one is trying to concentrate on reading, not looking at cleavages.

Not if you guys are making money with them. I don't think I notice them anymore.

I have no problems with any of the ads I see here. Sometimes it's fun to see what kind of ads a topic has generated. The only annoying thing for me is that I have an older MAC and some of the ads that move grind my computer to a crawl. I also think my browser is not very compatible with this site. Maybe I'm the only one, but I have trouble doing cut and pastes into the quote feature when in "reply" without effecting the performance of my computer. I sometimes lock up totally.

It sure is a dumb image...but I read about the game somewhere, and it's just one of those role play/civilization games, with some sort of mediaeval twist....I just looked it up, and it's had even more dumb ads, some of which have ended up pulled from some sites, at least.

Sex sells...how many ads get a thread about them?

It's certainly not an image I want on my screen at work!!! But then, I oughtn't to do anything but work on my work computer, so I'd not complain about it.

An ad free A2k?

It'd be nice, but it's no biggie for me.

I figure sites have to get money to run.

Some of them are amusing the way they tie in with thread topics.

Actually....I know where I first heard about the actual site the ad leads to!

A little client of mine had seen it on some site that was supposed to be ok for kids....and, as he had previously been exposed to porn, he was really upset and triggered by it.

His mum checked out the site, because she was about to be pissed off with the site her kid was on if it DID lead to porn...they then had a bit of a look at the site to desensitize him and she told me about it.

@Merry Andrew,
And does reading text distract you when you are trying to concentrate on cleavages?

(I can focus on two things at once).

@ebrown p,
Lucky you. My wife tells me I can't multitask at all and she's right.

(Tried walking while chewing gum one time. What a disaster!)
