I just suspect that Mac (the white dog?) is giving you that look because he just wants to have his dinner while sitting on that comfy outdoor sofa. A 'What kind of service can a dog expect at this joint?' kind of look.

@jcboy,
Our Lilly comes from the pound too; she's the most friendly dog I have ever had. She thinks everyone is just there to greet and pet her - people & animals alike.

How did they work that out when meeting each other? I guess I'm presuming they have, at least a little.
They both got along great from the start, they are both trouble! lol
Nope, same shelter thou, Mac the lighter color dog is about 4 months older then Frankie. Frankie was very thin and about to be put down, he's now over 90lbs and loves to jump on me to get a big hug

Dogs like surfing?
First I've heard of such a thing.
The poor little dog in the second photograph below doesn't look too happy at all!

The yearly Loews Coronado Bay resort surf dog competition took place in Imperial Beach, near San Diego, California
Did you pull a CSI on them regarding their possible crimes? Checked their paws for evidence of dirt? Interrogated them under individually under a single bright light? Play good cop/bad cop? Bribe one to snitch on the other with a hamburger?

@jcboy,
That's not good. They shouldn't kill other animals...
