My dog, Punky (half lab, half Pit Bull - I forget the other half) has a disorganized priority list for dealing with strangers. She will bark at passing pedestrians, dogs and other animals. But a total stranger can walk up to the front door and knock and she will hardly react at all. The new meter reader was a different proposition. Punky appeared willing and able to attack and kill, in his case. Poor guy's face turned white. The old reader had a truce with her. I don't think that's possible this time. On the other hand, my fearless dog will try to hide from any horses she sees. She caught a kitten in the back yard a while back. She was carrying it around in her mouth when I found her. I returned it, unharmed, to the mother cat.

She wants to be a mommy I believe.
Her position on horses is quite smart. She has the right idea in being weary of them. I myself almost lost a thumb by being bitten by a horse at the tiny age of 3ish. The doctors back at the hospital sewn it back on after my father's newly gained blind horse thought my thumb must have been a carrot (I previously ate some carrots for a snack that night we got the horse) and chomp goes my thumb. Healed up so well that I can't remember which thumb it happened to (no scars et al....)
Punky was spayed at a very young age. She might want to be a mom, but it's hard to see that.
When we are driving. she tries to hide from horses we pass along the way. This is something taumatic for her. It is based in her early experiences with a man who rides past the house from time to time. I don't have a clue why.
Wouldn't that be a turn up for the books. I wonder is there an "after the rapture human care" service.

He's behind you! Meet the world's worst hunting dog. This beagle failed to spot the fox behind him. The dog had strayed too close to a den containing four fox cubs, but their protective parents stood their ground. Naturalist and photographer Mircea Costina captured the scene in a forest north of Montreal, Canada.

I bet the dog's excuse was, "I knew the fox was behind me all the time. I wasn't hunting fox at that time. I was hunting rabbits. So bugger off as I didn't have time to play with no foxes."
