@tsarstepan,
That's so true and dear. Yes.

I'm having trouble opening the slide show again. May be my computer.

@tsarstepan,
She's nine Stepan, I think we got her pretty early she was still walking but I noticed her back legs were a little unco. She's been sedated and treated now they're waiting to see how she recovers - all going well we can take her home tomorrow afternoon (30 hours away)

@hingehead,
Is this a genetic problem? Hope it can be cured or alleviated. 9 isn't too old for a Westie.

@tsarstepan,
No Stepan, it's a paralysis tick, they are native to the east coast of australia. While they suck blood they pump a neurotoxin into the host animals blood.

As our new coworker from Utah says 'Why it that every animal in Australia is either poisonous or agressive' to which I replied, 'Or both'.

@hingehead,
aaww, I am sorry to hear that your cutie is in such pain. I hope everything
works out for you and little bear. In your link it said that "Frontline" should
help against ticks - we actually have the same here and it's a monthly tablet
and it keeps the ticks off (in our case the fleas too).
I am crossing my fingers for bear!

@hingehead,
I was thinking of some kind of muscle tic. My bad.

I'm glad we don't have them here in the Northeast US.

Hope she recovers soon. Give her an extra biscuit for me when she does. Smile

@CalamityJane,
We use one CJ (not Frontline though, it's bad for cats I think) I think we must have stuffed up the regime when we moved, or the buggers are immune to whatever we are using (Advantage or Advantix). Great deal of discussion at work about the pros and cons of tick collars. Personally not a fan.

@tsarstepan,
Of course Stepan, I can see how easily you could think that. They're such a common place problem here that I forget not everyone has to deal with them. Feeling bad because she was off her food and I didn't suspect it might be a tick. She's usually such a garbage guts.

I am not a fan either, but if you could put one on her just the times she's
out and about, it probably would help. We don't have ticks so close to the
beach but they certainly have them inland, they're not poisonous though,
but can transmit Lyme disease.

I just took a tick off of my pup too. I got the whole thing and the scab has even come off, but now there is this hard knot under the skin where it was. Is this a normal thing? Do I need to take him to a vet and have it lanced?
