Heat Wave!

Presently in the southwest corner of British Columbia we are having record temperatures.

During the last few days the temp has been between 30 to 33 Celsius (86 - 91.4 Fah).

Yesterday, it hit 36 C (96.8 F), and today it's predicted to be 37 C (98.6 F). It's really getting to be too much.

We're hoping for cooler temperatures by the weekend. It's very uncomfortable in our computer room, which is upstairs in our townhouse. I'm scaried to put a thermometer there. Laughing I bet it's easily 36 C.

Anybody else suffering from unusually high temps for this time of the year?

@Reyn,
actually it's been cooler than usual here in Albaturkey. We are usually around 100 F but it's been running in the low/mid 90's.

@Reyn,
We are having a record heat wave here in Western WA. Yesterday it reached 98º and it is expected to reach over 100º today. What is really unusual is the night time temp. It has been in the 70s.

@TTH,
I wish I could find a copy of an editorial cartoon that was in our paper a few years ago, when we were in the middle of another heat wave.

It showed a busload of people arriving in hell. They were all getting off the bus, and putting on ear muffs, parkas and such.

One demon was saying to another demon "Who are they?!!!"

"oh, just another arrival from Texas"

@Reyn,
won't complain 'bout today (cool and rainy), but we were in the 100's early and often this year on the prairie.

Dys: It sounds like I wouldn't be happy living in your neck of the woods. Sad

TTH: Yes, I think Washington is pretty much getting the same weather as BC is at the moment. Hard to sleep at night. Sad

chai: That's a funny story, thanks! Laughing

RH: Prairies? Canada or US?

@Rockhead,
It's actually quite bearable down here in Central Alabama - we have had low humidity and even a few cool nights. Very nice for July - maybe it has switched up some. It's just mid 80's F here today. That is quite bearable. Of course - we have air conditioner...which makes a big difference..

@Reyn,
Our heat wave, such as it was, broke a few days ago. Was hitting in the low 100s. Now, it's topping out in the low 90s. Overnight low was 67.

@roger,
Ouch!

Well, at our local airport this afternoon, temperatures of 38 Celsius (100.4 F) was recorded.

Now that's ridiculous for even here! Sad Mad

Pacific south west - San Diego - has perfect weather, 74 to 78 F , no humidity
to speak of and a slight breeze from the ocean.

@Reyn,
I'm sooooooooo happy that the heat is staying out with you.

The downside is that the tomatoes here aren't doing well, but I am sleeping soooo well.

I am staying at home as much as possible. It is not advisable for people with breathing problems to be outside. I consider myself lucky that I have air conditioning in my house even if I wear a coat.

@Reyn,
you couldn't have held on to the heat for just another couple of weeks?

Been unusually cool for Hawaii this year, hardly any summer at all. Any day that the temp. actually gets to 80 degrees F. newspaper headlines scream, SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE . Uh...anyone notice that it's almost mid-August already? I've been to a beach exactly twice this "summer."

@edgarblythe,
And we're in another cool spell, sort of. Highs to the mid 90s, but down to the low 50s last night, and most of the past week. That overnight break from the heat sure does help.

@roger,
September days should be like that. October nights should match the other part.
