@Region Philbis,
Jeez, I better stop handing out compliments to Ellsbury. He read what I wrote and then he went 0 for 5 and stranded 6. I think I'll STFU.

@Region Philbis,
I don't mean to point out the warts but that box score made me laugh after praising Ells to the heavens only hours before.

As you wrote, they have the great ability to slough off bad games and bad at bats. They are the come-back kids and the polar opposite of what they were last year.

For that and many other coaching pluses, Farrell should be looking at an award for Manager of the Year.

@Region Philbis,
Rays have been dreadful.

Here in the S Florida market I've been watching the David-Marlins battling the Goliath-Pirates.

When did the Pirates become Goliath? That one crept up on me.

@Ticomaya,
They need ace RP Grilli back but Melancon is filling in perfectly.

Oops, they just lost McCutcheon for a very short-term ... day-to-day... with a shoulder ailment.

I prolly should post this prior to the beginning of this series, just in case...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Down at Triple-A, there were rumors. Brett Hayes heard about what happened to the Kansas City Royals at home after a win. Someone flicks off the lights. Another person turns on a strobe and a smoke machine, putting the club in clubhouse. Finally, the player of the game – maybe the guy who hit a game-winning home run or maybe, as in Hayes' case Wednesday, the guy playing in his first major league game in almost a year – activates the neon sign and sets the place aglow in red, purple, yellow and blue.

they are starting to believe...

A little at a time with proper acquisitions, good management and a general overall good team player attitude of the players.

Whatever happened to create this fortuitous moment, I refuse to question it as it gives me some measure of happiness as my beloved Yankees continue to race to the basement. The Pirates have always been my NL team so life is good.

Bruce Chen just threw Pedroia the Eephus pitch.

and got him to ground out weakly to the pitcher.

when it's working it's working...

interesting baseball factoid of the day, as I await the start of the Royals v Red Stockings game. of which I will only be able to view the first half or so...

the damn Yankees DL alone has a payroll of $100 million.

that's kinda sickening...

I'm kinda liking this Justin Maxwell kid.

I would guess Jake Peavy will disagree with me...

Good news, it looks like he's playing in tonight's game at Colorado.
