@Region Philbis,
Chris Sale (CWS) tossed a CG today.

@realjohnboy,
Sale surely looks like the real deal:
"Sale was named the American League Pitcher of the Month for the month of May with a record of 4-1 with an ERA of 1.71, 35 strikeouts and a .181 opponents average over six games. "

here's something you don't see every day...

The Brewers and Cubs each drafted the opposing manager's kid.

"Both teams drafted their respective managers' sons Wednesday. The Brewers took Lance Roenicke, an outfielder from UC Santa Barbara, in the 25th round. The Cubs took Rustin Sveum, an infielder at Desert Mountain High School in Arizona, in the 39th."

Actually, they each drafted their own manager's kid.

OK! I'm totally ready for the scrap heap. Didn't the eskimos put their elderly on ice flows when they can longer be useful? This is IT for me.

As a lifetime Red Sawx fan I often read about who my Sawx draft for their future. The Sawx had tried drafting Carl Yaz's grandson! Not son, mind you - his GRAND-son!

Just shoot me now!

[Edit:] Oh ok..Seattle has drafted him:

"Vanderbilt junior outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, the grandson of Carl Yastrzemski, went to Seattle in the 30th round. The Sox drafted Yastrzemski
out of St. John’s Prep in Andover in 2009."

On a different note: Sawx just sent Bard down to AAA for some seasoning with a few shorter pitching stints (thinking for 10 days or 2 weeks.).
Today they're putting Dice-K back in the rotation to replace Bard. Coincidentally, it's his one-yr-anniversary of his Tommy John surgery.

He's still throwing a lot of pitches. While he's got a good K/BB ratio (2.5:1), he was 0-3 with about a 3.7 ERA at AAA. The scarey thing is that he just had some neck muscle trouble very recently. Sure hope he is effective again.

@Ticomaya,
you are correct, of course.

if you only paid as much attention to your fantsay roster, you might be doing better...

it's 12-4 now, and you aren't done whiffing for the week.

Congratulations to Matt Cain

"SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Matt Cain pitched the 22nd perfect game in major league history and first for the Giants, striking out a career-high 14 and getting help from two spectacular catches to beat the Houston Astros 10-0 on Wednesday night.

Cain's 125-pitch masterpiece for San Francisco featured a pair of great plays by his corner outfielders. He got pinch-hitter Jason Castro on a grounder to third for his 27th and final out with the sellout crowd of 42,298 roaring.""

Very mixed feelings about A-Rod matching Lou Gherig's grand slam record. On one hand I'm happy that he did it, on the other I am annoyed that he was the one to break the record. Oh well.

@Region Philbis,
That is a question many of us have.

It can be argued for all time that he still had to have the ability to hit the balls; but, the force that the bat connected to them, was definitely altered to his benefit by the injections.

poor manny...

The Oakland Athletics granted Manny Ramirez his outright release prior to their 10-2 win over the San Diego Padres. Ramirez never appeared with the A's despite being eligible to join the team on May 30.

now what?

@Rockhead,
Undoubtedly, a reality show. He should join up with Chad Ochocinco and they'd make for good TV ratings. The theme could be "sports teams rejections and how to mishandle it".

Of course, Manny hasn't any passing familiarity with reality so it could be a learning experience for him.

I just now discovered that Man-Ram is right behind them with 21 on the Grand Slam list.
