Why is it everybody remembers Rod Serling's Twilight Zone screenplay but nobody remembers Damon Knight's wry short story on which Serling's script was based?

Knight's short stories made an impression on me. He and Bradbury were amazing. Serling's televised presentation reached the masses... reminds me of how I grit my teeth when I hear people say how much they love the song "At Last" by Beyonce!

Glad to see another Knight fan on this forum. Serling was sometimes less than open about the sources for his Twilight Zone episodes. I seem to recall that Bradbury got pissed at him once for not crediting a story that he (Serling) tried to pass off as original when, in fact, it was an adaptation. Serling, it was said, didn't want to pay the royalties.

Yep. "To Serve Man" was a Twilight Zone episode lifted from the short story of the same name by Knight.
