Ok, so a little background with the photos.

This is the flight OUT of Atlanta from the first lay over.
Storm grounded our plane and about 12 others . that storm was over Ny/Nj where we were going.
Once in the plane the next morning , you could see the smog of the rain clouds and the mist of the left over rain.

Lovely.

Once up in the air, we flew through the storm. You could see splattering rain clouds along the wing

How can you capture a smell?

Have you ever been in the subway in Ny?

What would you imagine it smelled like?? Ok.. so take that imagination and amplify it.
Then add smoldering heat, too many people and the loudest noise I have heard in a long time.

Love it.

Im sorry sir, who ever you are..
You were the first image of the quintessential new York Italian I saw.
Accent, excessive hand motions and all..

Love ya Progresso...

That cross in the above photo is part of this church. Beautiful, and hidden on a side street close to the Staten Island Ferry

@shewolfnm,
Keep going, eh?

If you ever looked at my story on my trip to nyc, the guy with the forever calling that we dropped off from the airport bus landed somewhere around those big buildings near chinatown (I think). But did his wife ever answer... we'll never know.

Enjoying this.. remembering my own entry to the City.

I am only scratching the surface of the photos I have taken.

I have stories of old Italian men singing to me on the sidewalks
Thug kids hanging out talking about the tastes of fruits and veggies
Locals scolding me for being so talkative ( Wink )
Taking photos in the middle of traffic.
and eating. OHHhhhhh the eating.

you name it Smile

but so far, these are the only ones done and worth posting I think.
will work on more later tonight and tomorrow.
This will be a long project

@edgarblythe,
I'm sure I showed one photo, very boring to others, but it's of our apartment building, the Colony House, 3240 Henry Hudson Parkway (Riverdale), which is dead and gone, gone, gone, circa 1950.

I'll toss it in here if I find it.

I remain enchanted with Shewolf's photos, forevermore, forevermore.

Oh, right! We hadn't talked about this. Shewolf smiled at strangers in New York. She started conversations with them!

(Shakes head)

So country!

@ossobuco,
Ok, an interlude, while expecting another 590 photos from Shewolf.

This is St. Gabriel's playground in Riverdale, the Bronx, our apartment building in the background. I was eight. That's sixty years ago.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/ossobuco/Colonyhouse.jpg

The front of the building. The Hudson wasn't far but I think I remember a "bridge", and staring at the underside of it, remembering the dots, as we drove away forever. I don't mean the George Washington Bridge, which I remember liking, I mean just the local road bridge.

This is what I remember of us as rich - my father had a great job. Life pooped from there, not to complain.
I googled the address within the last year, and that whole block is some monolithic schmutz.

I think I took those pics with my Brownie.
