Today, we can celebrate a century of women drivers. On this date in 1909, in a publicity move by Maxwell motors, Alice Ramsey and her two sisters-in-law and another female companion began driving across the United States. They reached San Fransisco 59 days later.

I don't see any mirrors on that thing . . . how did they put on their makeup?

Alice gets pulled out of a mud hole in a then typical American road.

None of you wimmins has answered my question. With no mirrors on that thing how were they able to do their make-up? Surely they didn't actually pull over to the side of the road to do it. That would be a violation of the wimmins' handbook, no?

@Setanta,
Come on, we put a mirror on the steering wheel, of course!

Hellooooooo?
I don't need no stinking mirror to apply my ever so subtle make-up!

Oh yeah, now that I have my glasses on, I can see it's a boy....

Oh, Setanta will have to be in the backseat? Something like this?
