The Chinese say: customers are our God, so we should wait upon our cutomers like they were God.
But what about "lord"? Can we say I was waited upon as if I were a lord?

Yes, but there would be no implication that they were god.

If you THE lord it would be the same as saying god, but if you say A lord, it is like saying saying royalty, is in a British Lord.

And anyone who says that has very little real world experience with customers, most of whom are fine, but a small percentage of whom are absolute loons.
