freakin scary, Salmonella

Last week Lady Diane bought me a can of "Private Choice" shelled pistachios which I have bean munching all week. A few moments ago I got a phone call from our grocery market telling me to not eat and to return the can of pistachios. I went on line and checked and sure enough, there is a salmonella warning/recall for these specific pistachios. Oh well, I guess I will return the half-can that I haven't eaten.

@dyslexia,
I presume you can take it back to the more local outlet of that grocery store...

@dyslexia,
food poisoning - BAD STUFF !

in august 2008 canada's largest producer of prepared meats (bacon , bologna , prepacked foods for cafeterias , hospital and seniors' homes) MAPLE LEAF FOODS had to recall huge amountss of food with the LISTERIA bug .
hundreds of people got sick , a number of elderly people died ... won't be buying maple leaf food anytime soon ... problem is : their products are being sold under many other brand names !
i had e-coli poisoning about 35 years ago : SCARY !!!

well, I've bean eating these recalled pistachios for nearly a week and I ain't dead yet. I'm not worrying. I will ask for a full refund and perhaps a cuppa good coffee for making the journey.

How did the grocery store know you purchased a can of pistachios over a week ago? That's kind of scary too.

Diane must have used a card rather than cash. The card receipts show everything that was purchased.

Glad you're not showing any symptoms, not that I care. I never liked you.

glad I looked at who authored this post, I would have first guessed it was Finn which would have made me sad for weeks because he would be serious. Since it's patiodog I will just pee on his leg.

@Roberta,
But if you use a card, how the heck did they get your phone number? Or is it you live so much in the sticks, that everyone knows everyone including your love of pistachios. My kids and I just got some yesterday and ate them up. Don't think it was the same brand though.

@Linkat,
I use the same grocery store, thus have the same grocery card. I long ago lost the card when I had a wallet stolen, but they call up my data and my discount when I tell them my phone number, which you give when you apply for the card.

@dyslexia,
What's interesting on all these salmonell recalls is the number of people who are not affected. There must be some very strong natural immunities going on.

@roger,
I doubt the bug gets on, say, every peanut in a batch of what, wildly guessing, 100,000 peanuts.

@ossobuco,
Oh yes those damn grocery cards - thats where they get ya. But in this case it was actually helpful.

The problem is I never update my address when I move.

@dyslexia,
I took Tylenol capsules in from a bottle I had purched before they announced the recall after peopld had died. I did not die nor get sick.
