In less than an hour, the Yankees take on Minnesota, and the fun begins. George Steinbrenner is peeved that his team (the best that money can buy--sorry there's my bias showing) isn't playing in prime time. Should be a great post season!
Will the Yankees prevail (again)?
What are the odds of a Cubs-Red Sox World Series?
Will Barry Bonds light it up?
How about those Braves?
Your thoughts, hopes, dreams?
Go Cubbies!
Would be pretty cool if they made it. Still have Twins loyalties, though.
The Cubbies are lovable and all (and have great young pitchers), but I have to pull for my Braves!
I would love a Cubs/Red Sox World Series.
F$@k the Yankees.
I bet the ratings for a Cubs/Red Sox WS would be great. I have a friend who thinks the world will come to an end if either of those teams ever wins it. Could be weird...
Does that mean Seattle is completely out of it? <sigh> Go Twins!
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, Piffka, but that happened about a week ago...
Yea...Seattle fell a little too far behind the Red Sox.
No Ichiro this year.
Looks like a rematch of '95.... Braves vs Yankees
Oh. Darn it. I love those guys. Ichiro is too much! Last I heard, we were going to have to worry that Edgar might not be coming back.
So it is likely to be another Braves vs Yankees World Series then, huh? I will hope for Atlanta.
Too cool! Maybe it'll be the Twins vs the Braves?
It's a reason to be cheerful, for sure...
1. The last Twins-Braves series was AWESOME!
2. How about a Yanks-Giants series. It would be fun to see Bonds face the Yankees stafff.
3. I think a Cubs-Sox series is one of the "Seven Signs"
Oh, well, a tough night for Braves fans. It was weird hearing and seeing so many Cubs fans in Atlanta, but as I said to a friend, it's better than seeing so many empty seats at Turner Field. Wood was close to unhittable, wasn't he?
That was a great game last night, D'Art. I hope tonight's is as thrilling, but I gots ta get some sleep!
Swimpy, last night's Braves-Cubs game was terrific! Talk about gutsy pitching--when ESPN switched to the game, it was already 2-0 Cubs with men on base on no outs in the top of the first. Hampton proceeds to strike out six in a row. Then Smoltz, after blowing the save in the 8th, sucks it up and does the job in the 9th, managing to keep Sosa in the on-deck circle.
I guess the end of the Red Sox-A's game was even more exciting, but I gave up and went to bed after the 10th. Too much baseball for me for one day--what great baseball it was!
Yea. Really exciting, watching them leave guys in scoring position multiple times, they could have blown the A's out of the water...than watching the bullpen and stupid managerial calls lose the game.
Sorry, Slappy. I've always kind of liked the Red Sox--I've been an anti-Yankee fan for many, many years. I wish them well, but with that bullpen, they'll need more than my good wishes to get them past the A's. Still, dropping the first game on the road isn't the end of the world...
