@realjohnboy,
I though it was something like 14 games, then the higher level of teams had playoffs. Will have to double check.
@ossobuco,
I forgot about the playoffs.
@realjohnboy,
Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs. Are you kidding me? Playoffs? I'm just hoping we can win another game.
@realjohnboy,
Looks like I got all mixed up there, as there are 25 games, at least at the bottom of the matchup chart. I presume including playoffs. I'm probably still playing football, which explains some of the Paws' travails.
@ossobuco,
Anyway, we have a long time to go. Plenty of time to chip away at Fbaezer's lead.

Hope will only make the torture more effective!
Damn you, Tico!
Looks like I'll have to be quicker snatching up prospects. Two words: Neftali Feliz.
Wow! The standings after today will really be tightening up! So much so that I am predicting that I will get only 7 of us in the actual ending position.
1) Prima gets pounded by the Pups. He hangs on to #1 at .594;
2) Da Tubas positions himself to challange, keeping #2 at .573;
3) Ipswich stays at #3 with .550;
4) Skoalman takes a loss but hangs onto #4 with .532;
5) Hoots drops 2 slots to #7 at .512;
6) Gushies rise to #5 with .520;
7) Pups pounce on #6 at .518;
8) Rednecks slump to #10 at .485;
9) Tico continues to creep up. He will end at .497 good for #8;
10) Herons will climb to #9 at .491;
11) Paws stick at #11 at .453;
12) Gerbils fall to #13 with .424;
13) Corn Guy moves up to #12 at .439;
14) Firefighters stay at the bottom with ,412
Next week, Ipswich could knock Prima out of 1st. The Tubas play The Bay Herons.
Hmm I didn't go up a slot but, heh, the Pups did beat PFM.
Kerplunk............Hey, its cold down here!
@ElStudHoncho,
I could barely stand to look at the stats..
yesterday I lazed around reading a book and didn't check my lineup in time, leaving two pitchers on the bench. Cripes! Time to shape up or ship out, Paws' Manager!

This week I added Johnboy's prediction at the far right of each stat--He went 6 for 14 correct but he did predict that this was a highly volatile week and he included a disclaimer that he would have a lot of misses. There was more movement in standings this week than there has been for awhile. Alas, the Owls continue to move in the wrong direction.

Yahoo seems to have fallen asleep again. All of the 7 pm (EDT) games are still listed as not yet started an hour later. mlb.com has scores.
Fixed, it appears, finally.
Brian Wilson picks up save #16.
I am looking forward to welcoming him to the Stable Hands.
As a total aside...UVA's baseball team is headed to the College World Series! My understanding is that there are 4 teams left and they play a double elimination thing, whatever that is. They play LSU tonight. Go, Wahoos.
I will let yall in on a little secret, if you promise not to spread it around.
UVA has always been pretty good at baseball, but never really good. About 5 years ago a new stadium popped up on Grounds, paid for by an anonymous donor. UVA was able to attract a top-notch college coach.
At about the same time, a youth baseball field complex was built in southern Albemarle County. It is an awesome design, combining level fields surrounded by picnic areas and walking trails that follow the existing hilly terrain. Osso would be impressed.
The donor there was the author John Grisham, who lives in the area.
