@Montana,
it's much like england. there's a day or two of sun occasionally, but otherwise it's pretty gray and rainy. oh well, only a few more months and then i'm back to slovakia, where i started off. quite happy about that.

Sleep tight, Montana.

Maybe later we can all hang out in the hot tub.

I almost posted something yesterday on one of the two "open" threads about how many of the posts might be hurtful interference and how I might feel at this (same as you) age... which turned out to be how you felt. I couldn't get it worded in a way to not sound condescending to or like I myself was interfering since I tend to agree with what others were saying re: the alarms going off... And, I DO tend to be gullible and the last one to figure things out.

My middle-child syndrom was feeling all of this from every side. I feel battered just from reading along. Can't imagine how bruised you must be feeling.

So,... Hot tub later? Ya up for it?

@squinney,
I can't sleep, but yeah, now that you mention it Squinney, I am pretty drained.
Been a while since I felt this kinda tired, no doubt about it.
Thank you my friend for caring in the distance and letting me do my thing.

Hot tub later sounds fabulous Very Happy

Wow Sglass, did you take your meds today? How could you suggest this rude psychopath is Gus? Why would he take on such a persona and harass the people on this board? He is a strong character of his own creation, but has never shown any tendencies to be deceitful or manipulative. He certainly would never emotionally bait a friend like Montana, I think you owe Gus an apology.

Why are we prone to be selective when it comes to deciding who we will help and when? Is it fear? Is it lack of concern, or compassion? Is it spiritual or social blindness? Is it a blatant or subtle prejudice? Is it a lack of justice, or mercy? Is it a clear disregard for anyone other than ourselves?

Actually, while many of these traits or tendencies are present in many people, for those of you who 'get' this parable - you already know it's none of these things. But .. there is something, isn't there? There is something inside you that makes you walk on the other side of people's problems just like the Levite and Priest in Jesus' parable.

If it's not lack of love, compassion, justice or mercy - then what is it?

Well, for a start; it’s none of my freeking business!

However, that has never stopped me in the past…I well remember my time spent at Penn State University (PA)*

I read a work by Gustave Flaubert - Salammbo: A Story of Ancient Carthage (or should that be; carnage?)

If that tome has absented your coffee table; a few extracts…

St. Aidan is one of the chief historical characters. ...

- Matho, the Libyan, leaned over towards her. Involuntarily she approached him, and impelled by grateful pride, poured him a long stream of wine into a golden cup in order to conciliate the army.

"Drink!" she said.

He took the cup, and was carrying it to his lips when a Gaul, the same
that had been hurt by Gisco, struck him on the shoulder, while in a
jovial manner he gave utterance to pleasantries in his native tongue.
Spendius was not far off, and he volunteered to interpret them.

"Speak!" said Matho.

"The gods protect you; you are going to become rich. When will the
nuptials be?"

"What nuptials?"

"Yours! for with us," said the Gaul, "when a woman gives drink to a
soldier, it means that she offers him her couch." …

…But a man had followed him, and through the darkness, for the lights
of the feast were hidden by the corner of the palace, he recognised
Spendius.
"Begone!" said he…

Chapter VI. "
Matho said in the evening to Spendius. "I should have seized her, ..... Moreover , he was beset with thoughts of Salammbo, and he raved in the delight of her...

"Well! what matters it?" said Matho.
Spendius was silent…
- Matho's immobility, however, astonished Spendius…
-
- Spendius, with his head thrown back and his eyes half-closed...He pressed his hand upon his mouth to check his sobs, and half-swooning
with intoxication…Matho had relapsed into his former melancholy;

All three are here and I would venture to suggest there is only one puppet master!

*That should read: State Penitentiary.

@Tryagain,
Try, your desire floats in front of us as the veil of Tanit, the zaïmph embroidered, in front of Salammbô..

However, the possibility stands that you are half-swooning with intoxication..
